MiG Corp. is undertaking a wide scale restructuring aimed at creating a highly efficient organization for the development, production and in-service support of military and civil aircraft. This end-to-end management modernization, the first of its kind in Russia, will enable MiG Corp. to meet customers’ growing requirements in the new millennium's rapidly changing and highly competitive environment.
The restructuring program is managed by a new team of executives bolstered by skilled and experienced professionals recruited from leading Russian aircraft manufacturing and defense corporations, financial institutions and marketing companies.
MiG Corp. has a defined strategic development policy that centers on the in-depth conversion of the company while preserving the considerable work share from defense-related programs.
MiG Corp.'s near-term plans include the establishment of production of the 100-seat Tupolev Tu-334 passenger aircraft and involvement in other conversion programs – including series production of the Ilyushin Il-103 four-seat general aviation aircraft.
As it becomes more involved in the civil aircraft manufacturing market and increases the number of its military programs, the restructured MiG Corp. has defined customer satisfaction as its first priority. The company’s flexibility and customer-oriented policy complement the high combat capabilities and proven operational features that are typical of MiG aircraft.
The new concept of MiG Corp.’s management structure is the subject of continuous review and improvement within MiG Corp.’s newly established civil aircraft division.
One of MiG Corp.'s strategic tasks is to create a dynamic system of management able to react in real time, meeting the pace of today’s business environment.
In addition, MiG Corp's organizational structure will be more flexible and adaptive, requiring less manpower through the utilization of modern IT and data processing systems.
MiG Corp.'s defense programs are the subject of multistage business process reengineering – focusing primarily on the optimization of activities and cost reduction initiatives. The company’s new team is assessing each of MiG Corp's programs, reviewing their status within the organization and their projected life cycle. The goal is to establish efficient control over each specific program stage, from conceptual design, production and delivery to customer support (both within warranty period and beyond) and modernization of in-service aircraft, whether or not they are covered the manufacturer’s warranty.
MiG Corp's business process reengineering is based not only on changes in the management structure of the corporation, but also on significant changes in the attitude of employees through the establishment of a new corporate spirit. Today, all MiG Corp.'s employees – from senior executives to production workers – are fully aware of the new challenges the corporation faces today as a single entity.
MiG Corp.'s new strategy for the international market is based on a more flexible approach to the customers’ needs, and on matching MiG Corp.'s products to customer requirements in terms of performance, operational features, delivery procedures, customer support services and modernization programs.
MiG Corp. is a reformed and dynamic corporation that has no comparison to the multitude of Russian organizations that customers were required to deal with when buying or operating MiG aircraft prior to the beginning of 1999. While maintaining the best MiG aircraft traditions for quality and reliability, the new management team has significantly improved MiG Corp.'s organizational structure and procedures for external relations with the world’s marketplace.
MiG Corp.'s new strategy, approved by the Board of Directors in late 1999, defined key principles that are fundamental to MiG Corp.'s activities. These include increased participation with other aircraft manufacturers within the framework of international joint programs, and a readiness to develop closer business relations in line with current trends within the aerospace sector.
