VORONIN PRODUCTION CENTER
|
The Voronin Production Center, with its Moscow-based primary assembly plant, is one of the Russia's oldest and largest aircraft production facilities.
It was founded in 1893 as the Dux plant, then renamed to Znamya Truda during Soviet times. It subsequently became known as MAPO in the 1990s.
Since 1909, tens of thousands of thousands of aircraft, including Ilyushin Il-28 tactical bombers, the world famous MiG-21 fighters, and Ilyushin Il-14 and Il-18 commercial aircraft have been manufactured at this plant. Today, the Voronin Production Center is the major manufacturer of the MiG-29 family of tactical fighters.
In the framework of MiG Corp.'s conversion program, this Moscow plant is assigned the manufacturing of large components for the short/medium-haul Tupolev Tu-334 airliner, and it will be responsible for final assembly of first two airliners of this type.
Being the leader of Russian aircraft industry, the plant has implemented very efficient manufacturing processes:
Production of large structural airframe components produced from various types of composite materials.
Production of large structural airframe components using welded, advanced steel, titanium and AL-Li alloys.
Automated processes for the manufacture and assembly of parts and components.
The Voronin Production Center incorporates the Lukhovitsy and Kalyazin plants.
