By every MAKS air show, Russian avionics manufacturers became ever more prominent. Their cooperation with foreign companies gives impetus to the growing activity in this segment of the market. Latest and future developments by Russian and European leaders were displayed at MAKS 2001, with Russian companies and joint ventures paying special attention to avionics upgrade issues.
Today, commercial integrated R&D entities with the full development, production and delivery cycle are taking shape in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), including the Aerospace Equipment corporation and Technocomplex R&D and production centre. Russian manufacturers are interested in cooperating with major western avionics makers, which was proven by MAKS 2001. During the show, there were talks held with Hamilton Sundstrand, Honeywell, Barco and Vibrometer on the possible use of their equipment on Russian-built Tu-334, Tu-204 and Tu-214. .
