The Europe-largest Gromov LII airfield, which houses the MAKS premises, boasts virtually unlimited capabilities for static display and flight demonstration of aircraft. The special status of the airfield allows for demonstration flights of any complexity while providing maximum safety and intensity.
During MAKS 2001, demo flights was all the rage with both experts and general public.
In terms of the number of aircraft and flights performed as well as the latter's complexity, MAKS 2001 surpassed the flight demonstration programmes of major air shows. About 50 fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft performed demo flights on the daily basis.
Famous aerobatic teams - Russian Knights and Swifts from the Russian Air Force, LII Test Pilots, Rus and Sky Knights - performed during the event.
