TAWS is a computer based system intended for providing the flight crew with sufficient
information and alerting about hazardous terrain situation that would permit the flight
crew to take effective action to prevent a controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) event.
TAWS has been developed and manufactured in accordance with the current and prospec-
tive civil aviation standards, recommendations and requirements and can be installed
on all the types of civil aeroplanes and helicopters.
TAWS integrates all modes of the GPWS equipment and also such advanced features
as terrain display, forward looking terrain avoidance and premature descent alert functions
