Activity and biography |
In 1954, having graduated from the Physical Faculty of Moscow State University he has taken a full-time post-graduate course at this University and completed this study in 1958.
In the same year he was assigned to work as a Senior Engineer in the Special Design Bureau No.15 located in the town of Zhukovsky, Moscow region (now is NIIP after V.V. Tikhomirov). In this organization he worked successively as Leading Engineer, Leading Designer, and Senior Researcher.
In 1960, he defended a thesis for seeking an Academic Degree of Candidate of physico-mathematical sciences. In the same year he was appointed as a Head of Department – Chief Designer of R & D work for development of radar seekers (RS).
In 1972, this Department was reorganized in R & D Division of NIIP under the leadership of I.G. Akopyan. He has been working as a Head of R & D Division – Chief Designer until 1985 when he was appointed to fulfill obligations of Deputy General Designer on science of “Phazotron” Scientific and Production Association (SPA). He fulfilled these obligations until 1986 when he was appointed as Director – General Designer of newly founded “AGAT” Moscow Research Institute.
In 1988, he defended a thesis for seeking an Academic Degree of Doctor of technical sciences. In 1990, he was granted an Academic status of Professor.
In 1995, he was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences, in 1996 – as a Full Member of the International Academy of Information Sciences.
In 1999, he was elected as a Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences (RARAS), and in 2000 – as a Full Member of RARAS. At present, I.G. Akopyan is General Designer - Vice General Director of JSC “AGAT” MRI”.
Scientific degrees:Doctor of technical sciences (1988), Professor (1990), Full Member (Academician) of Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences (2000), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences (1995), Academician of International Academy of Information Sciences (1996).
