VSMPO has gained the image of a reliable supplier of high quality products in the world titanium market; it is a number one titanium supplier to Airbus Industrie and a number two supplier to the Boeing Company.
In 2002 a transition was made at VSMPO to the Quality Management System (QMS) complying with the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001:2000, AS9100, DIN EN 9100. In 2003 QMS was certified by TUV.
VSMPO airworthiness certificate for servicing Russian and CIS industry was confirmed. Surveillance audits of the Quality System and products were performed by major customers such as Boeing, General Electric, Pratt and Whitney (USA), BFGoodrich (Canada), EADS Group, SNECMA Moteurs (France), Rolls-Royce (Great Britain), Mitsui and Co (Japan).
Inspection checks of laboratories at VSMPO were performed by GOST R, MAK (International Aviation Committee) Aviation Register; crosschecks with TIMET and GEAE (USA) verification tests are performed annually.
VSMPO was accredited by the European Economic Committee of Russia as an equipment supplier for power facilities. Licenses were granted to VSMPO by the State Nuclear Surveillance for design and manufacture of equipment for nuclear-power engineering and radiochemistry. |

Basic directions of activity
VSMPO has the following production facilities:
-Melting facility: is the world’s largest facility equipped with the unique 10,000 ton presses for compaction of large electrodes up to 10,000 kg in weight, vacuum-arc furnaces including scull furnaces that allow melting titanium ingot with diameter from 400 mm up to 1150 mm and weight up to 18,000 kg. A new plasma-arc cold hearth furnace advances increased metal quality, reliability, and lifetime.
-Press forging facility: is equipped with forging and die-forging hammers, forging presses with the capacity up to 6,000 ton, 800 ton radial forging machine, a number of die-forging presses, including two 30,000 ton presses and the world’s largest 75,000 ton press. The available equipment, state-of-the-art design and simulation processes and up-to-date tool-making facility allow us to continually increase production efficiency.
-Flat-rolling facility: is equipped with hot, warm and cold rolling mills for production of plate, coil, sheet, strip, foil, SPF sheet. It also has straightening, heat-treatment, grinding, pickling and ultrasonic equipment available.
-Bar-rolling facility: is equipped with the unique reversing radial-shear rolling mill, section mill and radial-rolling mills. Rolled bars are subject to the complete processing cycle including hot straightening, machining and ultrasonic testing according to specifications with the strictest requirements.
-Tube-making facility: is equipped with a number of hydraulic presses, helical rolling mill, cold-rolling mills, drawbenches, up-to-date tube-welding mills and various test facilities.
