In 2003 VSMPO is planning to modernize all the forging facilities and to proceed with the serious reconstruction of the melting facilities including introduction and expansion of the ancillary equipment area in the bar rolling facilities. The modernized unique forging and die forging presses in the forging facilities will be equipped with computer controls and supported by the new ancillary equipment. The anticipated results will allow reaching the level of the most technologically advanced forging companies in the West. Launching of a new 2 000 ton specialized forging press complex will allow to considerably expand billet production. The new plasma arc cold hearth furnace, which is planned to be put into operation in 2003, will open up possibilities for the enhancement of the metal quality, reliability and service life. The bar rolling facilities will be further developed through expansion of the bar machining area.
