| Description: |
The 100-seat, short/medium-haul Tu-334 airliner, initially developed by Tupolev Design Bureau, is of the category of commercial airliners that are in high demand in both Russia and the international market.
According to a Russian government decree of October 1999, MiG Corp. is responsible for setting up series production for the Tu-334 and its derivatives in Russia.
The rapid launch of Tu-334 series production will let MiG Corp. step into the 100-seat airliner marketplace with a high quality, state-of-the-art product.
To date, the Tu-334 program is one of the Russian aircraft industry’s most promising commercial programs. This aircraft fully meets the international airworthiness authorities requirements for engines and avionics. In addition, the design of the aircraft and its systems is quite simple and well developed. This combination should provide swift certification of the aircraft and a rapid ramp-up in production rate.
The Tu-334 provides passengers with a high level of comfort, with a spacious cabin (the ceiling height is 2 meters), large overhead storage bins (50 liters per passenger) and spacious cargo holds.
Even with its large fuselage, the airliner’s excellent aerodynamic characteristics and its highly efficient D-436T1-based powerplant result in a very cost-effective aircraft, with efficient fuel consumption, excellent takeoff and landing characteristics, and a quiet cabin.
The "cornerstone" of Tu-334 series production launch at MiG Corp. facilities is the extensive cooperation of all the participants in the airliner’s manufacturing process. The Kiev-based Aviant plant will provide production tooling for over 50% of the aircraft construction. MiG Corp.'s major partner in flight testing and certification program is the Tupolev Design Bureau. In addition, other Russian manufacturing companies are planning to be involved in this important program.
The Tu-334 is the a basis for the new family of short/medium-haul airliners. Currently, several derivatives are being developed, including the longer-range, increased maximum take-off weight Tu-334-100D (with a range of over 4,000 km with a full commercial load), powered by BMW-Rolls-Royce engines and fitted with Western avionics; as well as 120-seat longer-haul and cargo versions |
