The maintenance of Mi-8, Mi-17 helicopters and all their modifications is conducted on the basis of the appropriate Maintenance Regulations where the periodicity and work to be fulfilled are prescribed. Timely and high-grade performance of maintenance procedures allows to upkeep a proper level of reliability and readiness of helicopters for flight.

The purpose of maintenance and overhaul is to upkeep airworthiness of aircraft.
Line maintenance is a set of preparation work, inspections and checks of aeronautical engineering operating condition ensuring serviceability, readiness and operability of the aircraft. It is performed before and after helicopter flight. Line maintenance can be carried out either at the home base (at SERVICE CENTER) or at the base of operation (while long term operation separately from the base).
Schedule checks of the aircraft is are be performed in terms of operating time (flight time, landings) prescribed in operation and maintenance publication or in periods (calendar time) according to the list of work and their periodicity (Maintenance Schedule). Schedule Checks should be carried out only at the specially equipped base - in a Schedule Checks SER-VICE CENTER.
Restore Major Repair is a complex of procedures and operations aimed to recover time between overhauls, calendar life, helicopter operability and serviceability; it must be performed only at a Restore Major Repairs SERVICE CEN-TER.
A number of technical staff, equipment and tools depend on quantity of operating aircraft and their modifications.
In a Line Maintenance SERVICE CENTER offered here there are two types of helicopters operation:
-1 type - operation of 1-5 helicopters group.
-2 type - operation of 6-10 helicopters group.
The most important part of the specific type aircraft operation system (here MI-8 and MI-17 helicopters of all modifications) is aviation technical complex SERVICE CENTER including elements as follows:
-Ground structures, hangars, aircraft parking areas.
-Production equipment, ground support aids, tools, test equipment.
-Qualified and certified technical staff.
-Reserve of consumable materials, spare parts and combustive-lubricating materials.
-Operation and maintenance publication.
Depending on a type of maintenance carried out a SERVICE CENTER can be of three types:
-1 type - Line Maintenance Center.
-2 type - Schedule Checks Center.
-3 type - Restore Major Repair Center.
