UDAV-1MThe system is comprised of:
300 mm diverting Rocket Projectiles (diverting and barrage depth-charge).
Rocket Launcher.
Feeding Device.
Fire Control Equipment.
To reliably protect the surface ships against the torpedoes in the near zоnе, for the first time in the world practice the UDAV-1M Ships Anti-Torpedo Defense MRLS was developed at the SUE ”SPLAV SRPA”. This system embodies R&6 efforts to create an effective method of
active reaction to the existing and futufis torpedoes.
One salvo of the UDAV-1M system deals with an attack of a straight-running torpedo with the kill probability, of 0.9 the kill probability of a homing torpedo is 0.76.
The system very high effectiveness is ensured through laying on the torpedo frajectory of several ”drifting curtains`” (comprised of projectiles of different types).
UDAV-1M MRLS executes successfully a mission on the antitorpedo defense of such large aircraft-carriers as ”Admiral Kouznetsov”, the Russian flag aircraft-carrier ”Peter the Great”, etc.
Udav-IM ships anti-torpedo defense MRLS is used for enga-gement (diversion) of the ship attacking torpedoes. The sys-tem can also be used against submarines, underwater sabo-teurs and weapons. Realized in the system principle of the preset automatic firing of different purpose rocket projectiles ensures creation of a highly effective system for ships echeloned protection against the attacking torpedo. What puts the system in a class by itself is that different types of the projectiles with their own preset ranges of fire are launched in one salvo. Depending upon the torpedo detection range, different variants of the launcher loading can be used. The system reaction time from the moment of the torpedo detection is 15 s. The first defensive line is formed by two diverting rocket projectiles (RPs) which lay four decoys. Locking on to the decoy makes the torpedo to divert from its attacking trajectory and to continue its guided motion to the decoys until its motor stops. Should the torpedo penetrate the first defensive line, it meets the “drifting” minefield laid by the barrage RPs. Torpedo passing through the barrage RPs killing zone results in its destruction. If the ship’s first and second defensive lines are penetrated, a salvo of the depth-charge RPs is fired for effect.
