RPK-8 MRLS is comprised of:
-212 mm 90R antisubmarine rocket
-60 UP feeding device
-RBU-6000 Depth-Charge Rocket Launcher
The RPK-8 antisubmarine MRLS is used for the antisubmarine protection of the surface ships in the near zone as well as for destruction of the torpedoes and underwater saboteurs attacking the ships. The system features the RBU-6000 launchers mounted onto many ships of various displacement and a unique 90R 212 mm antisubmarine rocket which carries a homing gravitational underwater prof`ectile to the target area.
RPK-8 MRIS ensures also firing of the RGB-6O unguided depth rocket-powered bombs.
RPK-8 Anti-Submarine Rocket Launcher System (MRLS) is designed for protection of the surface ships against submarines as well as for destruction of the ship attacking torpedoes and underwater saboteurs.
The target detection is ensured by the onboard sonar which calculates its parameters and furnishes them into the control equipment for the fire ballistic preparation.
The launcher loading is automatic by means of feeding of the antisubmarine rockets from the hold compartment.
After the rocket splash-down a gravitational underwater projectile is separated from it to ensure an active hydroacoustic scanning of the surrounding medium and after the target acquisition - a guided motion towards it and its destruction.
