The Su-31 M is a single-seat sports aircraft is an improved variant of the Su-31 and has a series of constructive and technological features.

The aircraft is equipped with the SKS-94M emergency escape systems produced by the `Zvezda` Scientific/Production Enterprise that ensure safe forced escape from the aircraft in all flight modes and on ground. The system increases the aircraft weight by 12 kg.

The on-board equipment is extended. It includes removable aviation horizon and GPS.

The interior of cockpit is improved and renovated.

The aircraft has been under series production since 1996.
