The Flight Research Institute (Lll) is a big centre of aviation scientific research and testing. Lll conducts: flight investigation of a wide range of aerospace engineering objects; organization and realization of fundamental and applied research projects on the problems of aerodynamics, thermodynamics, strength, control systems, air navigation, avionics, powerplants, ergonomics and life-support systems; certified evaluation of aircraft technology and development techniques for assessing aircraft compliance with airworthiness requirements; development of technical projects as well as fabrication of models and experimental prototypes; training of test pilots for airplanes, helicopters and aerospace systems.
