GIFAS - Groupement des Industries Aeronautiques Francaises et Spatiales - (the French Aeronautics and Space Industry Group) includes 200 firms of various importances involved in development, production, maintenance, and sales of civil and military aircraft, engines, missiles and space vehicles, including satellites, launch systems, equipment and associated sub-systems. GIFAS operates as a central organization representing manufacturers when dealing with national and international organizations and as a coordinator between members. GIFAS promotes French Aerospace Industry and lobbies for its interest in national and international forums. At the international level GIFAS promotes the industry through conferences. lectures and presentations and represents member firms at aeronautical trade shows and exhibitions throughout the world. As a biennial event GIFAS sponsors the International Paris Le Bourget Air and Space Show. The 43rd Le Bourget Air Show will be held from 13 to 20 June 1999.
