Among other things, “The Russian Aviation Co. Ltd.” accords a high degree of priority to creating a collection of flight-worthy aircraft dating back to World War II.
The work of searching for missing aircraft and their fragments in uninhabited and almost inaccessible regions of Russia started in 2001.
“RUSAVIA” has taken part in the restoration of the aircraft “I-15 bis”, being displayed at “Hydro-aviation Air Shows-2002”, as well as the aircraft “DIT”, exhibited together with “I-15 bis” at the International Aviation & Aerospace Air Shows “MAKS-2003”.
A group of the “RUSAVIA’s” specialists completely restored two front aircraft “Po-2”. The third aircraft was partially restored.
On 29 July 2004, the legendary night bomber “Po-2” was handed over by “The Russian Aviation Co. Ltd.” without compensation to the Technical Museum of the town of Koshitse on the request of Mr. Shuster, the former President of the Republic of Slovakia.
The “MiG-3” fighter represents the most interest for its restoration to a flight-worthy condition. The reason for the work lies not only in the aircraft belonging to the world-wide well-known “MiG” trade mark, but also in high flying performances, excellent external outlines and rich combat history. The aircraft has become one of the well-known soviet fighters of the Second World War. “RUSAVIA” has plans, not only to restore the fighter, but to return the aircraft to the fleet of flying aircraft.
The revival of the legendary aircraft is indeed deserved and respected work, promoting consolidation and strengthening the spirit of the Nation.
