At customers demand the aircraft can be equipped with engines and on-board equipment of either CIS or foreign manufacture. Cabin layout of aircraft can be modified to accommodate either 46 or 52 seats with different appliances, and in cargo/ passenger versions to stow 1.9 to 3.4 t of cargo on the pallets and 20-36 passengers.
An-140 is a high-wing monoplane configuration with traditional tail unit and wing-mounted turboprop engines. Tricycle landing gear is retractable into fuselage. Spacious baggage and cargo compartment of B class is arranged in the aft. Apart, a cargo compartment of D class is provided under the passenger cabin floor. Transportation of palletized cargoes with removing of forward rows of seats in the fore section of passenger cabin is provided.

Noiseworthiness inside and outside aircraft complies with international regulations and the modern household appliances and interior creates comfortable conditions as best as that of jet airliners. An-140 aircraft surpasses all existing aircraft of the same class in the volume of baggage compartment available per one passenger.
