Description |
For aviation and motor industry.Magnesium articles are produced as castings from the following alloys for the aircraft and automobile industries:
Mg-Al-Zn-based alloys - Ml5 and Ml5pch (improved corrosion resistance);
Mg-Zn-Zr-based alloys - Ml12 (improved strength fatigue and corrosion resistance);
Mg-Zn-Zr-РЗМ-based alloys - Ml10 and Ml19 (improved heat and corrosion resistance).
The prodiction method comprises gravitational casting in sand and metallic moulds with the product weighing from 0,5 to 400 kg and maximum dimensions of up to 1700x1500x1000 mm for sand-mould casting and 1500x1500x1000 mm for metallic-mould casting. Minimum casting wall thickness is 5 mm and minimum thickness of ribs and walls with length through 200 mm is 4 mm.
The sand-mould casting is used to manufacture housings, covers, frameworks, frames, etc., while metallic-mould casting is used to produce casings, drums, flanges, braking cylinder units for aircraft wheels and disks for automobile wheels.
The plant has launched production of protectors made of the Mg-Mn alloys and Mg-Al-Zn-Mn alloys to provide anode protection from corrosion of various structures, such as pipelines, tanks, boiler equipment, etc.
Plant facilities are equipped with gas and electrical foundry furnaces, a facility for successive and controlled crystallization, core production machines for hot-fitting, including those made from cold-hardening compounds. Lines for thermal and chemical casting treatment are also available.
For ensuring casting quality spectral, X-ray, ultrasonic, metallographic control and high-humidity chamber equipment are used at the plant.
The number of castings in a production batch, depending on the casting method, amounts to 60,000 pieces per year. Annual production capacity amounts to 700 t of casting.
