The last contracts concluded by the Sukhoi corporation for supplies of Su- 30MKK fighter planes to China and Su-30MKI to India plus active promo- tion of these types of craft on other sectors of the world market give every reason to believe the export supplies of military aviation hardware will grow. In recent years they traditionally accounted for roughly half the earnings fetched by Russian sales of arms. The final analysis of the year 2000 showed that exports of aviation hardware exceeded 50% of the total figure. Experts' opinion is that in the coming years the planes of the Su-27/Su-30 family will dominate the sales of aircraft. According to their estimates, 450-500 units will be sold before 2010. Such a quantity of twin-engine machines will require more than a thousand afterburning tur- bofan engines of AL-31F type and their variants.
