The Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) "Lianozovo Electromechanical Plant" (LEMZ) is a leading enterprise of the Research and Production Centre "Utes-Radars".
LEMZ was established in 1935 and originally its activities were involved in manufacturing and repairing railway passenger carriages. In 1951 it was reorganised in order to manufacture complicated radio and electronic equipment. And one year later it mastered a serial production of communication radio aids and radar stations.
LEMZ participated in realisation of a series of the most important national programs, e.g. in equipping with radar facilities of automated Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems "STRELA" in Russia (Rostov ATC zone), in Ukraine (Kiev ATC zone) and in Byelorussia (Minsk ATC zone); in creation of a landing complex for the Soviet shuttle-spacecraft "Buran"; in creation of a low altitude radar for the Air Defence Missile System S-300 PMU. The main developer of products manufactured by LEMZ is Design Bureau "Lira" integrated in the Research and Production Centre "Utes-Radars".
Thus, LEMZ with its 50-year experience in developing and manufacturing radio engineering and electronic equipment has become one of the leading Suppliers of radar equipment.
Located in the north of Moscow, in the Lianozovo district (from which the Plant name was originated) LEMZ holds all types of production facilities required for the manufacturing of electronic, electrotechnical and mechanical components of complex systems, namely: foundry and press-forging, metal-working workshops, an electroplating workshop, printed circuit boards production, a workshop for production of great-size antennas, erecting and assembling workshops, modern test equipment.
LEMZ possesses reliable transport lines, including its own railway branch line. Its production processes are controlled and monitored from a unified centre of automatic process control system.
The in-plant workshops are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment with numerical programmed control that permitted to improve quality of manufactured products and to decrease employees quantity.
LEMZ has a large-scale experience in international co-operation.
Our products of both military and civil purposes are well known not only in Russia and the CIS countries, where more than 2000 LEMZ-produced radars are operated, but also in 50 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The Plant regularly participates in international aerospace exhibitions, which take place both in Russia and abroad. Paying much attention to quality control of manufactured products, LEMZ has all equipment required for checking and testing, including equipment for creation extreme operating environment conditions. LEMZ performed a procedure of production process certification to check its compliance with ISO 9000 standards.
Today, the main LEMZ products are as follows: a variety of air defence radars, air-route and terminal surveillance radars for Air Traffic Control, systems of radar data transmitting and processing, equipment for Air Traffic Control Centres.
In the course of its business activities LEMZ was and is engaged in the manufacturing of consumer goods. At first these were 3-programm receiving sets "Mayak", well-known from childhood for all Soviet citizens, then the Plant mastered production of first national personal computers, called "Agat", designed by the Design Bureau "LIRA".
