Brief history

NPO GIPO is a multifield state enterprise which carries out complex researches and design works in the optoelectronic instrument-making industry (IR-devices in the first place) and in optical technologies.
`NPO GIPO` was established in 1957. It is one of the major scientific and research optical enterprises in Russia. In 1997 NPO GIPO obtained the status of Federal Scientifiс-and-production Centre.

The main direction of activity are complex researches in IR spectral region, from the study of physics of optical effects, calculation of optical systems, development of current-technology optical parts and elements to the designing, manufacture, complex testing and metrological certification of optical electronic devices abd systems. During the last years NPO GIPO is one of the leading russian designer on infrared market. By now 10 types of thermal imaging devices has been put in commission or passed testing. On the semi-commercial plant was started manufacture of thermal imaging sights 1PN79 and 1PN86. At present time testing of 2nd generation thermal imaging devices on sub-array photodetectors with up to 4x288 elements, and also 3rd generation devices on uncooled microbolometric arrays are carrying out. `NPO GIPO` was made a parent enterprise on metrological service of IR engineering. `NPO GIPO` is the only russian developer and manufacturer of diffraction optics: diffraction gratings of any kind, hologram filters, aspheric optics.
