Background:

The State Rocket Centre ”Academician V.P.Makeyev Design Bureau” was established in 1947 as Specialized Design Bureau for development of long-range missiles later in 1966 renamed the Machine Building Design Bureau. (MBDB). In mid 50-s the Design Bureau started working on the development of submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Seven sea-based ballistic missile complexes and thirteen modifications were commissioned to the Navy.
