Basic directions of activity

AVICOS was set up in 1991 as specialist aviation and space insurer. The company was organised as a “Closed Joint Stock Company” which is an equivalent of a private limited company. The initial shareholders were over 20 aerospace companies, airlines and finance organisations. The structure remained the same although the shareholders’ capital has been increased. Among the shareholders there are Ilyushin Aviation Complex, Energiya Rocket and Space Corporation, Uzbekistan National Airways, etc.

After the successful start in aerospace business AVICOS management took a strategic decision to expand the activities into other sectors of commercial insurance - first of all marine, industrial property and construction. This expansion has proved to be quite successful and we are proud to have firm positions in these sectors along with being a leader in CIS aviation insurance. Undoubtedly this position will be maintained and enhanced.

The policy of the Company has been invariably to put together a dedicated team of professionals who can provide the best level of insurance service to our clients in targeted areas. AVICOS is fully licensed in accordance with the Russian Law to provide services in all main classes of business (The Russian Law requires the insurers in addition to a general license to obtain a separate “sub-license” for each particular class of insurance)
