Description

Designed to recovery of core in medium soft to medium hard formations with abrasiveness and hard stringers.

The low infiltration bits have face discharge fluid ports that direct the drilling fluid at an angle away from the core to prevent premature formation washout before entering the core barrel. The core bit ports are large enough, however, to keep them from being plugged by the formation. The specially configured bits are designed to allow faster penetration and reduce fluid infiltration of the core.

The unique design of the ID gage at our core bit allows the extended core catcher sub to be placed just behind the cutters so that the core can move directly into the barrel. The closely spaced fit between the core catcher sub extension and the bit forces the drilling fluids through the bit's fluid ports allowing for bit cooling and cleaning.

Standard or premium cutters in 3/8”, 1/2” or 3/4” sizes are available on PDC Core Bits. Using PDC cutters helps achieve a higher rate of penetration in unconsolidated formations with low compressive strengths and dense formations with a much higher compressive strength. Because the rock is cut in shear instead of compression, the energy required to fail the formation is much lower than conventional core bits.
