Our city

Zhukovsky is not far from Moscow. It is situated in the green zone of Moscow region. It is the town of aviation science. The are the Central Air-Hydrodynamic Research Institute, Flying-Test Institute and others.

The population of our town is 132,000 people. The palace of Culture, The Grocery, The Central Post-office and number of shops form the center of our town. When somebody comes to our place he sees a monument to the 'Father of Russian Aviation' - the professor Zhukovsky. There are always flower at the foot of the monument. In a beautiful square you can enjoy your rest and chat with your friend about this or that. Our town is known in many countries abroad because of it's International Air - Show which take place. Here once in two years. It's unforgettable sight. If you go to our town by plane you'll arrive in airport Bikovo, wich is also located in our town. I'm pound of may town, it's people and its traditions.

1. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen's! Welcome to our round Zhukovsky tour. We're in Gromov square and we're going along Amet-Han-Sultan street.

2. On the left you can see the monument of Chkalov. We're going along Chkalov Street. On the right you can see a hospital.

3. We're turning left now. On the left you can see the monument of Zhukovsky. We're going along Phroonze Street.

4. On the left you can see Meria of Zhukovsky. Straight ahead you can see the institute (TSAGI).

5. We're turning right. We're going along Gagarin street. On the left you can see the monument of our town.

A disaster in our town.

The hurricane was in Zhukovsky.

The wind was blowing and it was raining hard. It happened on July 24th 2000. It lasted for 10 minutes. The hurricane didn't destroy any buldings. Luckily nobody died in the hurricane.

The hurricane pulled trees out and broke garages.

The roads were blocked. The disaster was in Tupolev street, Gromov square and the park.

People of Zhukovsky will remember the disaster for a long time.

Transport.

In our town you can catch a bus. You buy your ticket on the bus. It isn't very expensive, it's 4 rubles. Or you can go by taxi. It isn't expensive, too, and you don't have to wait. The taxi is fast. You buy you ticket in a taxi for 5 rubles. You can call the taxi on telephone. You have to wait about 10-20 minutes. It's expensive, 25 rubles. But it's fast an you stop the taxi when you want. You can go by train. You buy your ticket in ticket window. It's not very fast, but it's very cheap.

I come out of home. I cross Nizhegorodskaya street and turn left to Amet-Han-Sultan street. I go along this street. On the right there is a Music school. I cross Amet-Han-Sultan street. There is the monument to Chkalov. I turn left and there is our school. I come out of my home. I turn left. Then I turn right. I go along Chkalov street. And then I go along Komsomolskaya street. I walk to my school. It takes me 10 minutes to get to school.
