"The first impression of town comes from its nameЕ"
The first impression of town comes from its name. "Meet the town
of Zhukovsky". What does the name say to you?
Town was named after mr. Zhukovsky - the founder of the Moscow
Central Institute for Aerodynamics, which crowns his long and fruitful
scientific and exploratory work.
In commemoration of his great contribution to the cause of preparation of
the airshaft, the Air Force Engineering Academy was also named after
Zhukovsky.
Town predetermined the future of the settlement. The name of the
town inscribed on town blazon featuring the contours of the rocketing
supersonic Jets. Zhukovsky is the large airjunction.
The biggest European airfield, belonging to the Air Probationary Institute,
widely-known as "Ramenskoye" is situates here.
The town is perfectly known not only in Russia, but also abroad,
thanks to the international airshow. which takes place here.
You are standing near big winged statutes which are lined along
the road. Suddenly you hear the roar you frightenedly.
Look up in the sky and see a big aircraft - a fighter. What place is
it? Is it an exhibition? It is MAKS the International airspace show - called MAKS.
MAKS was initiated back in 1911. The First International Aerostatic
exhibition, which was held in the Michailovsky drill - hall in St.
Petersburg.
The first MAKS was held in 1993. The huge exhibition was visited
by 430 thousand people, in 1997 this number reached 500 thousand
people. From now on the exhibition is held only on add years.
I visited MAKS in 1993 and 1999. I remembered MAKS - 99 for all
my life. Various vessels introduces at the exhibition, ranging from
inormous aircraft to tiny sporting planes.
Big and small airplanes also stood on the ground in row. There
were hundreds of them.
First there were battle - planes, demonstrating the airobatics, than
the show continued with small sporting airplanes. Unfortunately I was
very busy at that moment, so I could not watch the performance to the
end. I still remember those fantastic moments.
