Brief history

Joint-stock company, founded in 1932 as an aircraft factory, now is one of the biggest Russian aircraft manufacturing enterprises.
In the years of the first 5-year plan periods the factory staff provided manufacturing of the first Russian aircraft, one of which was ANT-25. During the Great World War workers of the factory were making and repairing `flying tanks` IL-2 in hard conditions. In the 60-s of the last century the factory was the first to master the new technology and to manufacture the first in the world supersonic passenger aircraft TU-144. Our company has the priority of serial manufacturing of the wide-body passenger airliners IL-86 and IL-96. The enterprise was the leader in many progressive undertakings of Russian aviation science, working in close collaboration with the group of the Russian technics developers headed by S.V. Ilyushin, A.N. Tupolev, O.K. Antonov, G.V. Novozhilov, A.A. Tupolev.
