The Ural Design Bureau ”Detal” was established on September 10, 1949 according to the order of Minister of aviation industry for the development of airborne radio altimeters.
In accordance with the requests for proposal of some firms developing aerospace equipment and enterprises-developers of control systems our enterprise for 55 years has developed the radio altimeters, which fully comply with the requirements of customers, and having characteristics of the best foreign samples.
Also the enterprise has developed altitude radio sensors, radio altimeter systems, meters of sea and fresh water ice thickness, wave height meters, complexes of multibeam systems for correlation-extremal navigation systems of flight vehicles by the Earth physical fields and radiometric equipment for remote sounding systems of earth surface.
The Ural Design Bureau ”Detal” is a long-term partner in cosmic investigation for many leading firms in our country. Low and high altitude radio altimeters ”Planeta” and ”Vega” were developed and supplied according to ”Moon” program for soft landing of unmanned spacecraft. The radio altimeters A-039, A-067 were developed and supplied for shuttle spacecraft ”Buran”, they were used for automatic landing in 1988. Special set of radiolocation devices was developed in accordance with ”Phobos” program for space vehicle maneuvering over surface of Phobos.
In 1991 the enterprise carried out investigations in accordance with program of manufacture of radio altimeter for European spacecraft ”Hermes”.
More than 80 devices were developed and most of them were sent to maker’s plant for manufacturing.
The scientific school of radioaltimetry has been established uniting the leading specialists of our enterprise and scientists of the largest higher education establishments in Russia. The candidates of technical science, honoured inventors of Russia, national prize winners, full members of a number of International Academies work at the enterprise.
In 90-s the enterprise developed and produced equipment for national economy: radar and ultrasonic level meters, special radiostation for fuel and energy complex, flaw detection systems for machine-building and metallurgy, devices of radio broadcasting amplifiers and two-way communication systems, equipment of electric and vibration diagnostics for railway transport.
The Ural Design Bureau ”Detal” is the winner of All-Russian contests ”100 best enterprises and organizations of Russian machine-building of XXI century” and ”1000 best enterprises and organizations of Russia” in 2001-2003.
