Brief History |

| Joint Stock Company Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO) was founded in 1925 and for these years UMPO has produced more than 50 types and modifications of aeroengines powering 170 types and modifications of aircraft. A number of remarkable long-distance flights and more than 80 world records were set up on these aircraft. UMPO has been awarded two Orders of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner, 15 international and Russian competition and exhibition prizes. During World War II Ufa Motor Plant produced more than 97 thousand piston engines and won the Challenge Red Banner of the State Defence Committee 23 times and then forever. The Ufa engine was installed on every third combat aircraft of the Red Army. Since 1981 UMPO has been producing AL-31F fourth-generation engine intended for the one of the best world fighters Su-27 and its modifications. In 2000 UMPO launched AL-31FP variable-thrust engine ensuring super maneuverability and flight safety of Su-30 and Su-37 aircraft still to be achieved by any other fighter in the world. V.V.Putin, President of Russia, considers the engines produced by UMPO for military aviation to be the undoubted pride of Russia. ОАО Ufa Engine Industrial Association is a recognized leader of Russia in the field of aircraft engine building. UMPO has always gained high ratings among the largest enterprises of Russia. Products of UMPO-trade mark are used in 49 countries all over the world. |
