Activities

Activity: Agat Moscow Research Institute (MRI Agat) relates to the Russian Agency of Control Systems (RACS). It is a leading enterprise of the Russian Defence Industry in the field of developing radar homing heads for the missiles being in service with the systems preventing any airborne threat.

AGAT MRI was founded in 1986. 15-th jubilee of its creative activity was solemnly celebrated in 2001. However it should be noted, that the core of employees actively promoting its foundation, originates from 1958 and for the almost 45 years history of its existence has managed to develop all types of homing heads for the missiles of the Army air- defence complexes "KUB" and "BUK" as well as of the naval complexes "SHTIL" and "GANG". Also, the Institute has developed all types of homing heads for the family of missiles serving as the main armament of Russian fighters MIG-23, MIG-25, MIG-29, MIG-31, SU-27 and their modifications.

Having started with development of relatively simple semi-active radar homing heads which mass equaled to as many as several tens of kg, at present "AGAT" is capable of developing most sophisticated active radar seekers with "fire-and-forget" capability. Such seekers are equipped with powerful onboard computing systems and small-size microwave transmitter-receivers. As a rule, their mass does not exceed 10 kg, but their specifications are at the world level nowadays.

Last years were marked by creation of the new radar seeker called as "Upgraded 9B-1103M seeker". This is a unique active seeker. It comprises quite new small-size digital signal processor featuring large memory capacity and high speed of operation. Fiber-optic gyros are used in it instead of mechanical ones significantly reducing the time of missile preparation for launch. "Upgraded 9B-1103M seeker" is highly unified that makes it possible of its use together with air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles with their body diameters within 200 to 400mm. A missile equipped with such a seeker would have larger range, higher guidance accuracy, and smaller time-ready.

At present, "AGAT" MRI carries out the work for introducing further modifications into the "Upgraded 9B-1103M seeker". It relates to integration of a highly efficient onboard computing system with a new signal processor. New software is being developed that will provide larger opportunities to change operation logic of a seeker at the effect of jamming.

Development of new small-size radar homing heads providing high accuracy missile guidance became possible due to implementation of up-to-date technologies in "AGAT``s" products, establishing new computerized workstations, using unique measuring instruments and modeling facilities.

During last years, highly qualified specialists and scientists of "AGAT" MRI including many talented young scholars developed miniature microwave transmitters-receivers, highly efficient onboard computing systems and digital signal processors. Significant progress was achieved in developing the newest antenna devices and, in particular, in developing flat slotted wave-guide monopulse antenna arrays and transparent radomes of large extension possessing high radar characteristics.

The Institute pays much attention to the development of commercial products as well and, in particular, of medical devices. The following devices have been developed and certified recently: portable electro-cardio-graphic complex "ECG - "AGAT", non-invasive bilirubin analyzer not requiring samples of patient`s blood for analyses. Clinic tests of a device FLOW-2 for early diagnosis of urological diseases are at the stage of completion. Some other developments in the same area are under way at present.

"AGAT" Moscow Research Institute is one of not so many world companies capable of developing radar homing heads for both airborne and air defence missiles at the level of world standards. The team of specialists and scientists of the Institute is ready to develop a radar seeker or another equipment for rather short time on the contractual base. The highest quality of developed equipment is guaranteed.
